"Welcome to North Dakota!
Pick up the trail of America's greatest legends in North Dakota, and you'll find yourself in a legendary adventure of your own. Lewis and Clark, Sakakawea, George Custer, Sitting Bull and Theodore Roosevelt lived out larger-than-life adventures here. Whether you follow in their footsteps and rediscover the past or blaze your own trail and discover what makes North Dakota legendary today, you'll find wide-open spaces and wide-open fun!
Outdoor adventure
You can't outdo North Dakota for outstanding outdoor activities like hiking, biking, canoeing, camping, sailing, boating, skiing or snowmobiling, golfing, wildlife viewing and horseback riding. Don't let all that fresh air go to waste, go out and have some fun!
Golfing
This may surprise you, but North Dakotans are among the most avid golfers, with one of the highest numbers of golf courses per capita in the nation. In every corner of the state, excellent courses boast very reasonable green fees and all kinds of terrain for a variety of challenges. You can even golf the Lewis & Clark Golf Trail in North Dakota.
Wildlife Viewing
North Dakota is widely considered a top birding destination, with more National Wildlife Refuges than any other state, and we top that off with dozens of state Wildlife Management Areas. Sully’s Hill National Game Preserve, established as a National Park by President Teddy Roosevelt nearly a century ago, is home to bison, elk, moose and countless other species, including immense flocks of migratory waterfowl.
Legendary Hunting and Fishing
North Dakota's reputation among outdoor adventurers is legendary, from world-class walleye and perch fishing to unbeatable upland game, waterfowl and big game.
Furbearer/Nongame Hunting
Blow a predator call in North Dakota and you’re never quite sure what will respond. In the east, it’s more likely red fox, in the west odds favor a coyote, but both species live in every county of the state. In the Badlands, secretive bobcats can add a real surprise.
Festivals
Eat, drink and dance your way across North Dakota by joining us in celebrating our heritage at countless rodeos, powwows and more culture “fests” than you can shake a barbecued turkey drumstick at.
North Dakota Museums
With over 50 state historic sites, two state museums and dozens of county historical societies, history buffs can easily lose themselves in North Dakota’s story, from T. Rex to Teddy Roosevelt and from Sakakawea to Sitting Bull."
