"The state of Utah is unique. We have more variety of landscapes, geology, and recreational opportunities than even we can imagine. While our national parks are considered national treasures, there are many more places to see and things to do that are just as amazing... and certainly less crowded! This section will help you to discover and explore some of Utah's more famous attractions, and the perhaps lesser known yet "worth-a-visit" sites nearby.
Most of Utah lies on a plateau higher than 4,000 feet above sea level. The geology of this region takes on an amazing variety of shapes and colors. Elevations rise and fall dramatically in the shape of mountains, buttes, and plateaus, the highest reaching over 13,000 feet! Within this varied landscape are hidden treasures and experiences that appeal to everyone--from the rugged, solitude-seeking explorer to the family wanting a relaxing getaway. Utah has something for everyone.
Utah Communities
The Salt Lake/Provo area is consistently listed as one of the most livable metropolitan areas in the US. Utah also offers rural communities within easy commuting distance of the metro area, as well as small towns away from it all.
Employment and Economy
Utah has one of the strongest economies in the nations, with an employment rate that consistently runs a full point or more above the national average. We offer outstanding opportunities in high tech, hospitality, construction and many other fields.
Public Transportation
Utah Transit Authority operates award-winning bus and light rail services along the Wasatch Front. The TRAX light-rail system is popular with commuters; it now links many sites within Salt Lake Valley, and will soon be expanded to other areas.
Health Care and Social Services
Utah was listed as the third healthiest state in the United Health Foundation ranking for 2003. Utah was ranked fourth in 2002 and has consistently been in the top 10 healthiest states over the 14 years of this report.
Education
The University of Utah and Brigham Young University offer nationally recognized programs in many fields. Utah also offers a wide range of smaller state and private universities and community colleges, at some of the lowest tuition rates in the country. Our public schools continually beat national averages."
